Sculpture Park

sit me on a rocky out-cropping
sopping in-ward tears
that tear my thread-bare fabric
once synchronous into separated parts;
my pallid palms plead to palpitate a heart
resuscitate ruptured riddles
of my mother gone
buried deep in clustered grasses

i walk a sculpture park
with: Earth & Sky
Adam & Eve
Clouds Mirrored in metal ellipses
nature meets art on forest trails
and a verdant green meadow

how luminous the blue sky
deciduous frolicking leaves
Don Quixote holding a flower
opens prismatic rainbows in my eyes
my shadow pinned in an archway
to a gorge gorgeous mother gone

she sweeps mysteries with bristles
burnished by time
echoes memories with refracted light
i hear her haunted hum in the wind
call to me devoted daughter
devoid of her fingertip lullabies—
a chill scrapes skin on my scalp

come sit with me mother on this rock
rock me once more as an infant
wrapped in linen in your sweet fleshy arms

when i depart may wildflowers kiss my feet
return me home as a sapling soaked
in shimmery summer trees together
we will weave a vibrant cooling breeze
sculpted with hands that no longer bleed
